Network Rules
Please read these rules carefully. Failure to comply with the rules
will result in application rejection, your listing being placed on the
troubles list, or your listing being deleted from the network.
The rules are broken down into two parts: rules for application, and
rules for building and maintaining a physical fanlisting. Please read
both sections thoroughly.
Rules for Application.
1. Web experience is required.
- You must have HTML and graphic creation experience.
- Provide a current URL that demonstrates both HTML and graphic creation.
- Journal sites, page-builder sites, and groups like Yahoo, MSN, MySpace and Facebook are not accepted.
2. Only one fanlisting per subject.
- You cannot apply for a listing already approved by TPFLN.
- TPFLN only approves one listing per subject.
- Please be sure to check the approved pages before applying.
3. Only five upcoming fanlistings at once.
- You may only have five fanlistings on upcoming across the network.
- This is to give everyone a chance to own a fanlisting they want.
- You can however own as many fanlistings as you like in total.
4. Subjects must be released to the public.
- Your subject must be in something and/or
must have work that has been released to the public.
- That means if you're applying for, say, an actor, they must
have acted in something released to the public, whether that
is a tv show, movie, etc., before you apply for them.
- If your subject is a fictional character, they must be in a
book, movie, tv show, game, etc. that has been released to the general
public before you apply.
- You may not apply for a subject before they have been in and/or
have released public work. We want people to have an equal chance of
applying for a listing.
5. Groups of people are not accepted.
- Every individual must be applied for separately.
- There should only be one subject per fanlisting.
6. Staffers may not approve you if:
- Ridiculous requests will be rejected without consideration.
- Failure to comply with the rules or read them.
- Inappropriate requests will be rejected.
7. Fill out the apply form correctly.
- Incomplete forms are deleted.
- Names with numbers (ie: Kristen57283) will not be accepted.
- Forms with invalid email addresses are deleted.
- We expect you to explain why you would like to have the listing, but it is not required.
8. Only 'physical' excepted.
- Only fanlistings for the physical characteristics of a person or character in general are allowed.
- You may not apply for the eyes, style or any other features of a subject.
- Old fanlistings that were approved before this rule was put in place shall be left in the network unless they are removed after which time they will not be approvable again.
Rules for Building/Maintaining a Listing
1. The listing must be viewable to everyone.
- If it is possible, please check your listing for cross-browser compatability.
- If your listing is not viewable in certain browsers please state this or a preferred one that it should be viewed in.
- Your listing must be in English. You may make it available to multiple languages and allow users to choose, but an English version should be first preference and easily viewable.
2. You must provide a link back to the Network.
- You can either use a text link or a button/banner.
- The link must be visible (index/splash page).
- You must link to physicalfanlistings.net only.
3. Your listing must be complete in eight weeks.
- If this is not possible, contact the staff member that approved you.
- Extensions can be granted if you have a valid reason.
- If a listing is late in its completion, it will be on
troubles for one week. If you do not contact us within a week after
being placed on troubles, it will be deleted from the network without
question.
4. You must update your fanlisting at least once every five months.
- Inactivity of your listing will result in troubles and possibly deletion.
- Make sure to take the time to approve members or still place a notice of updating even if no one has joined or any other activity has taken place.
5. Name, Country and Email are required.
- You must take names, emails, and the countries of your members.
- Give your members a choice whether they want their email
shown or not. ( We understand that not everyone runs scripts that come
with this option, so if you do not run a script, be sure to have a
comments field in your form, that would allow members to give this
information, if they should want their email displayed, or not.)
- You may ask for other fields as well (ie: why do you like
this feature, etc) but they may not be required fields.
- You cannot reject a member for not filling in additional
fields that are not required. Please refrain from using any of those
silly "secret word" questions. If you do, your fanlisting may be placed
on the Troubles List for unfair rules.
6. You must have a 'Last Updated' date on your listing.
- It must not be a Javascript generated date.
- Please specify the format of your date (ie: 04/23/2005, mm/dd/yyyy).
7. Don't claim the listing to be the "official" fanlisting.
- It's illegal to claim the physical fanlisting as official,
for a subject that is not directly approved, by that subject. For
instance if you owned the Physical Fanlisting for Keanu Reeves, it
would have to be approved by him to be official.
- You can only put "The only listing approved by the
Physical Fanlistings Network" or "The only listing listed at the
Physical Fanlisting Network".
8. Put effort into your physical fanlisting!
- It's expected, not required! You like the subject, so why not show it!
- Perhaps you could add more information about your subject, or add some fun things to the site for your visitors. Such as a gallery, icons, fanfiction or be creative and come up with your own ideas!
9. Cross listing your fanlisting.
- The network only lists one physical fanlisting per
subject; this means that you won’t find two fanlistings for
the same subjects, in different categories. So, if you have been
approved for a physical fanlisting and would like to apply for the
fanlisting to also be listed in another category, use the apply form
and be sure to leave a comment, saying you are the current owner of the
listing.
10. If placed on Hiatus.
- If you need to place your fanlisting on a hiatus you must specify when the fanlisting will be back, as well as give the date it was placed on hiatus.
- Do not have a hiatus period longer then four months.
