A lot of changes have been going on behind the scenes of The Physical Fanlistings Network, and today the changes officially took effect. We have not only implemented a new way of displaying approved and upcoming listings, but new subject categories and more! Here are the new changes to the site and what you can expect from us:

1. Less pages to navigate to get to forms!
Thanks to our new management system, you simply need to go to the Forms page and select which kind of form you need to send. Once you have selected a type of form, you can select the proper category from a simple drop down. This has greatly condensed the pages and links needed to go through to get to the right form.

2. Updated application pages!
When you visit the Apply page, you will simply see the categories in which you can apply in. Choose one category, fill out the form, and you’re done. Very simple!

3. New approved/upcoming listing pages!
The Approved Listings pages have been redone. Instead of two separate pages for finished and upcoming fanlistings, these two have been finally merged. Current (finished) listings are now bold and linked, whereas upcoming listings are grayed out and not linked. Check out the pages and see for yourself!

4. Anime/Manga categories are back!
In the time since the network reopened in early 2009, we have gotten a lot of emails about wanting the anime/manga categories back. We appreciate your feedback greatly, and thus it was decided that we would add two new categories to the lineup: Anime/Manga Characters: Female and Anime/Manga Characters: Male. You will now be able to apply for characters in these categories as you wish! Please keep in mind that there are new rules for these two categories on their respective Apply pages. If you are confused on any of the rules, please feel free to ask one of the category’s staffers at our message board or submit a Contact form.

We hope that things at The Physical Fanlistings Network are easier to use now, and we look forward to expanding the site with the two new categories. Thank you for your patience with us; we’ve been working on these changes since June, so we are all excited for them to be in place! If you have any feedback, requests, or comments, you can always post them on our message board.

Thank you again and have fun!

In the past few months that TPFL has been reopened, we – the current staff – have noticed several things about the network and the application process. In order to improve the experience here at TPFL, we have decided to revise a few rules, as well as give a few reminders for first-time or veteran applicants. From April 14th, 2009 on, the network has these two additional rules:

Style (of) Physical Fanlistings

1. Style (of) physical fanlistings are now allowed. Style physical fanlistings cover the physical style of an actor, actress, character, musician, athlete, model, or personality. This is different from physical fanlistings in that the style physical fanlisting is only for clothing, hair, makeup, and so on, and does not cover facial or bodily attributes such as smile, face, eyes, hands, arms, etc. Style physical fanlistings are to be applied for by typing the person/subject’s name and then (style) afterward. IE: Emma Watson (style).

Extra Information on Applications

2. Due to the varied audience TPFL serves, the staff cannot possibly know of everyone/everything that is being applied for. We have gotten a lot of applications for specific topics that, while approvable, are still unknown to us as staff members. Thus, we have decided to require extra information on applications such as websites and links. Wikipedia pages, IMDb profiles, official sites, or extensive fan pages are suitable as links that provide extra information. This rule is to ensure a swift approval of an accurate subject.

Also, we have noticed a lot of people have not been following general TPFL rules, guidelines, and reminders. Please keep in mind that we have written up an entire page of Rules and Guidelines for not only applying for a physical fanlisting, but for running one, too. Here are some various reminders for visitors and applicants:

Check the Upcoming and Approved Lists

1. If you are looking to apply for a subject, you need to check BOTH the Approved list and the Upcoming list. These are separate for now, but we are hoping to combine them in the future. It does not take a lot of time to check these lists. If you apply for something that is currently listed/approved/upcoming, your application will be returned to you.

Ways to Check on Forms

2. We have had some bumps in our email server lately, so checking on forms has been crucial. If you have any worries about a finished form, update info form, closed form, or application being received, PLEASE contact the appropriate category staffer via the contact page or the category’s subforum at our official message board. Staffers are required to check their emails and their subforums, so your inquiry will get answered. It may take us a few days, but it will be answered! Also, check the updates blog. If you see a A/F/U/C update and your fanlisting/form has not been processed, please contact us before you get troubled.

Comments on Applications

3. We provide the comment box on the application form for a reason. We highly recommend you write a few words in the comment box when applying for a physical fanlisting. With the popularity of TPFL growing, we are getting more and more applications for the same topics from many applicants. In order to choose an enthusiast, responsible, and competant owner for a physical fanlisting, we may need comments from the applicant to choose. This does not mean comments are required. They are not; they are simply encouraged and welcomed.

We hope these rule changes and reminders will make the experience here at TPFL all the more welcoming and fun. If you have any questions, please direct them to the contact form or the message board. Thank you!

Hello everyone and welcome to the brand new version of The Physical Fanlistings Network! Those of you who have visited in the past few weeks may have noticed the site has been in Maintenance Mode, and I’m here to tell you why.

Firstly, I’m Haley. I was hired as the Characters: Female category staffer in July of 2008. Now I have adopted TPFL from Kya and Nicole – the amazing and wonderful former owners – and made it my own. There have been a lot of changes here in the past few weeks while the network has been under reconstruction. Besides new and revised rules, there is also a new back-end, layout, linking banners, and much more. Let’s get straight into what has changed and what is new, shall we?

1. All fanlistings previously listed at TPFL are in the new database and on the Approved pages.

All fanlistings that were finished and already listed as “current” in the old database have been successfully added and placed into the correct categories. Please visit the current listings pages for these fanlistings.

2. All extremely overdue “upcoming” fanlistings have been removed from the database and are OPEN for application.

This was done in an attempt to clean out the huge amount of fanlistings that were overdue by 4+ months. We had a LOT of extremely overdue fanlistings in the database: some over 8 months overdue! That’s why this clean out was done. However, if your fanlisting was approved 1~3 months ago, it is most likely still listed as upcoming and in the database. You may need to check the Upcoming Lists for the category your fanlisting was in to make sure it’s still there. If your fanlisting was removed in the clean out, you will need to reapply at this time. Please remember that you will not be guaranteed approval, though.

3. All fanlisting owners are now required to update ONCE every FOUR months.

The previous rule stated that you must update every 5 months, but to cut down on dead fanlistings in the database, we have changed the rule to be every four months, instead. Your updates could be either a member addition, deletion, or update. All of these are valid updates. If no new members have joined in the four month time frame, you must state so.

4. There are no style/smile/voice/eyes/lips/etc fanlistings allowed.

This is actually a reminder of a previously stated rule. There is one “physical” fanlisting that covers ALL aspects of a person/character/thing. This rule was not enforced very well in past months, but that will change. Any and all applications for these subjects will be returned to the applicant.

Those are the only major changes or updates to make people aware of. If you are wondering about the rules in general, or want to see what all has changed, please see the Rules and Guidelines page, as well as the category apply pages for individual category rules.

I’m optimistic for the future of this site, and I really hope the changes happens smoothly. If anyone has any questions or concerns, please contact me (or the appropriate category staffer) via the Contact Us page. The staff and I are still working out some kinks here and there, so please be patient as we get everything perfect. I’m confident things will be a lot of fun for all of us involved with TPFL – owners and staff alike.

In closing, I really hope you all enjoy the new site. Thanks again to Kya and Nicole for believing in me and being supportive of my decisions! I hope I don’t let any of you down, and thanks again.

Welcome to The Physical Fanlistings Network at TPFL.net! Whether you are new to the fanlisting concept, or an experienced veteran, we invite you to explore the realm of physical fanlistings – fanlistings dedicated to the physical appearance of a subject. From models, to actors, to singers and back, there are over 400 physical listings approved by us floating around on the internet. Why not browse around the network and see what the big deal is about?

What is a fanlisting, anyway?

A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. ~ thefanlistings.org

Celebrating 5 years!

Now in our fifth year, The Physical Fanlistings Network has undergone some big changes recently. A new owner, new staff, and new rules are all being put in place very quickly. If you’re confused at all or want to see what all has changed, please read through the Updates Blog (this page) and the Archive to see what all is going on!

Community Forum Open!

In the hopes of bringing the community together (and maybe giving our physical listings some promotion), we have added an official message board to the site. Whether you are just getting into physical listings, or already have a whole bunch, we welcome you to the forum! Go join and see what the chatter is!

Welcome everyone to a fresh new approach to the Physical Fanlistings Network. Before I detail all the changes that have taken place I would like to say they have been done to make the network easier for everyone. Both the staffers that care for the categories and the people who apply and run them. Some people may not agree with all the changes that have taken place, but we do hope this will not deter you away from the network as we all have a great passion for fanlistings and like to spread the joy!

The Major Changes.
Here is a list of the major changes that have now been enforced across the network and as always if you have any questions you should contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

- The Network will only list ‘Physical’ fanlistings. Other types such as style, eyes, lips etc will no longer be approvable. These types that had been approved previously will remain in the network until such time as they are removed due to troubles or closure and they will not be re-added again.

- The Adult and Anima/Manga category have been removed from the network and all fanlistings that were in these categories have also been removed. All owners have been notified of this.

- Fanlistings listed in the Models and Athletes category have now been merged into the miscellaneous category. All owners have been notified of this change and any updates for said fanlistings should now be made in the miscellaneous category only.

- Staffers will update categories at least once a month. This will require of them to make changes to their category, reply to emails and post on the updates blog. They are no longer required to post on the message board or live journal community.

- A fanlisting must now be finished in eight weeks or two months time, compared to the original four weeks or one month.

- Fanlisting owners must update their fanlisting at least once every five months.

- Trouble Checks are now conducted two or more times a year depending on the staffer’s requirements and at a time that is arranged by them.

- The Network also has a new layout to reflect many of the changes that have taken place. We will however appreciate and remember the amazing design that Raine had previously created for the network!

We will be working to get the network back in order and we understand that some categories may be backlogged and we will work to unclog them! Thank you for all the support everyone has given the network, we hope you will enjoy the changes!

We would like to announce that some new changes are going to be put in place for the Miscellaneous category. Previously you could not apply for the physical features of people or animals, however we have now decided these will be allowed. For example you can apply for the following; Hair: Blonde, Hair: red, Eyes: Blue, People: Ears, Animals: Dogs and a whole range of other listings that follow the same type, while we assume everyone will follow these guidelines the staffer in charge of the category will also make their own judgement. Should you have any questions about these new changes, please be sure to contact us and we will be happy to help!
